Though the more recent feathers in Roggie Baer’s cap have included the production of 2015’s stellar Doug Sahm Tribute at SXSW at the venerable Paramount Theatre and the representation of fine artists and magical shows like Akina Adderley and The Austin Bike Zoo, she has come up the ranks in the entertainment world. Starting in her college days in Tucson working in radio, and booking the largest student-run festival in the country at University of Arizona (Spring Fling served 100,000 students and the Tucson community with the top MTV bands in the late 80’s/early 90’s,) she maintained that dynamism through an amazing career in Los Angeles and Austin, booking tours for the likes of Joe Ely, Buddy Miller, Rosie Flores, Steve Poltz, and The Fleshtones. All the while, she balanced savvy professional cool with street-smart rock’n’roll cred. In Austin and nationwide, Roggie has been sewn into the fabric of the music community by virtue of her commitment to organizations that help musicians (Black Fret, SIMS/HAAM) and ally them with the business (SXSW, Folk Alliance, AMA.)
Because Roggie Baer is a veteran of so many aspects of the milieu of event promotion and what she calls “world building,” (and not coincidentally because she was an organic chemistry major in college) she is uniquely gifted to help promoters enable the manifestation of a successful entertainment situation, large or intimate. Among Roggie’s most valuable talents is her ability to creatively envision the entirety of an inspiring event: performers, venue, sponsors, audience, style, and mood.
Roggie is a highly requested panelist: SXSW, CMJ, NXNW, AMA, South Park Music Festival, High Sierra Festival, and more.
Membership and Participation: APAP, International Live Events Association (ILEA), IPAY, Black Fret, Folk Alliance, The Recording Academy, TFEA and more.
Mentoring is truly her favorite part of the music industry.
